Devices:
Messyworld.net is known for its inventive, custom-designed messy devices that are central to its unique brand of entertainment. Each contraption adds its own quirky flair to the messy experience. Here’s a breakdown of the most iconic devices featured on the site:
⸻
The Gunge Tank
The classic WAM centerpiece that have been used on television shows for decades. Contestants sit nervously beneath a large overhead tank filled with thick slime (“gunge”). At the press of a button (often by a rival contestant or the presenter), the contents are unleashed with hilarious results. Multiple colors and consistencies are used for surprise and visual variety.
• Purpose: Final punishments, quiz show forfeits, or celebratory mess.
• Variants: Some tanks are transparent; others are themed (e.g., office, salon, dungeon). These days the gunge tank is used as more of an add on rather than a standalone feature on Messyworld. An example being The Human Carwash, Plunga! and Escape Room’s final twists where opposing contestants stay in with a chance to also get messy, gunged & slimed.
⸻
The Human Carwash
A crowd favorite! This is a fully-operational, person-sized carwash made for human contestants. It features foam rollers, rotating brushes, soapy sprays, water jets, and slime / gunge tanks — all choreographed like a real carwash cycle.
• Purpose: Obstacle courses, punishments, or funny challenges.
• Experience: Participants must ride the carwash in result to losing a game but usually the mystery ropes await the person at the end. One released the grand finale on them but the other is attached to the tank above their opponent. Nobody is entirely safe from the slime with this one.
⸻
The Plunga!
A high-drama, very large contraption with an electronic ramp & chair and a pool filled with a massive 3,000 litres of gunge. Contestants sit on a seat above a deep slime tank. If they lose a challenge or get voted out, the seat releases — plunging them into gallons of cold, colorful gunge. Contestants are pitted against each other with one having to answer questions. Each time they get an answer incorrect, the chair rises. If it gets to the top of the ramp, they are plunged face first into all the gunk below.
• Purpose: Surprise eliminations or finale punishments with messy tasks also taking place in the gunge pit.
• Fun Factor: Suspense builds as the seat gets cranked up before the drop.
• Competitive: There is usually a chance the the contestants to swap if the one n the ramp wins, or the opposing contestants may sometimes be seated in a gunge tank next to the pool the added double jeopardy.
⸻
The Travelator
A moving conveyor belt with chair which moves from left to right under various gunge tanks filled with different substances or colours.
• Purpose: Competitive games, timers or questions can result in the participant being moved to the next tank, resulting in numerous layers of gungings.
⸻
☢️ The Destroyer
A chaos-driven invention that involves unpredictable messy blasts, gunge jets and slime pumps along with the big overhead tank finale, all in one chamber. It’s an unpredictable mess machine!
• Purpose: Surprise challenges, “punishment chambers.”
• Highlight: You never know how the mess will come — or when.
⸻
The Splatta! Chair
A high-backed chair rigged with several slime and pie delivery systems, usually set off when a contestant loses a round. It may dump slime from above, blast pies from the side, or launch foam cannons. Contestants are strapped in including their body, legs and hands so cannot avoid the oncoming mess. The chair is sometimes used as a standalone device or as part of another messy setup.
⸻
The Salon
A fake hair & beauty salon where customers leave quite the opposite. Participants think they’re getting pampered — until the “shampoo” is revealed to be slime, the hairdryer is a gunge pump, or the “styling cream” turns into whipped cream.
• Purpose: Sketch-based humor, hidden-camera style reveals.
• Audience Appeal: Combines beauty and chaos with full-costume messes.
⸻
Bonus: Custom Rigs & Games
Messyworld also features temporary and experimental setups — from pie slingshots to “gunk mazes” and slime-vote games, keeping the format fresh and unpredictable.
